I bred my first litter at the age of 12. I rode my bicycle to an
elderly couple's home and asked to borrow their collie, Duke. Led
him home, bred him to my Cindy Girl Evans II and two months later
she whelped a litter of 8 on quilts on the garage floor with her
head in my lap. This began a love for breeding that has lasted all
my life.
I
have bred champions in Shelties and Pomeranians and my son carried
on with my kennel name to produce smooth collies. After losing my
last 2 shelties, a new marriage and major changes in my life, I
purchased a black and tan wire bitch from
Criscross Kennels in
Tennessee and made a wonderful new friend, Cris Natali. I owe her
so much............From the beginning I was interested in piebalds
and Cris arranged to breed CH Criscross Cinder v Haywire to the
beautiful piebald Ch Duchwood's Red Alert. Who would have believed
a first litter could be so successful?
In addition to my
activities in the conformation ring
I was very active in obedience and gave obedience lesson for 3
years. I worked as a veterinary technician for 12 years Part of
that time was spent working with a zoo veterinarian specializing in
birds and exotic pets. It was very interesting and rewarding.
We are now working
hard to produce excellent dachshunds in both solid and piebald. |
